Monroe NC week ... Monday AM ... slow to rise. Headed to the ballpark loop, which I learned is called the Starlite loop as the area used to be the home of the Starlite Speedway. Three miles.
Evening. Slow to get out. Hmm. I'm long overdue to actually do some stuff that puts me out of my comfort zone. Did the loop at what I guess felt like 3k effort and then did 10 by a hill on it (may 2% grade) which was about 130 yards. Not stellar but moving a lot faster than I have as of late. 4.5 miles. Tired from the day, time zone change, but happy I got something done and made it hurt a bit.
Tuesday AM - 3 miles in the park. Not quite just loops
Evening - got out around 7PM, after the work day and before a call with APAC. Humid for sure. As I got back after my five a co-worker saw me coming into the hotel, made a disgusted face and said "oh my gawd, were you running on purpose?!" I said I had been chased but the better answer would have been I was doing it accidentally. Or maybe without purpose. 5 miles.
Runs have been tough lately. My legs always feel shitty. I am not sure if this is age, 100k of miles on them, poor diet, a vitamin deficiency, just being out of shape, tired from work, a lack of muscular something or other, some bs post COVID (which I never tested positive for but my family is convinced I had in January of 2020), just being a wimp, drinking too much, dehydration, loss of testo, high blood pressure, or just some other list of excuses. Add humidity and an uninspiring setting, and it takes me a bit of going through the motions to ... well, go through the motions. I know this sounds like belly aching. It is.
Wednesday evening. Did the same thing as Monday night, but just not as quick. Was tired and it looked like I had gone for a swim when I was done. So I did at the hotel pool when done. 5.5 miles.
Thursday night - dumb sorta hot and humid but the clouds cut the sun for a tad. 5 miles right after the office and before meeting the team for the evening. Ended up with a fair pace. A ball player who was vaping looked over me and said I needed to slow down (it was not fast).
Friday AM - knowing I had travel later in the day I made myself get out for four in the AM, recognizing that gave me 30 on the week and thinking I could get to 50 with efforts back home over the weekend.
Saturday AM - hot early but still nicer than Monroe ... back in the CO. 5.7 miles on the Lake Link Ditch loop.
Saturday PM - still 95 at 7PM but whatever. 4.5 on the ditch. Some water flowing in there finally.
Sunday AM - 6.1 with Greg. Thought I'd get out in the evening but at the tail of the AM session the gracilas decided to bark unexpectedly. WTF. I could have gimped it on the ditch in the evening post a call with China but I decided it would just be a potentially dumb decision.
Rough week, but ... well, onward. I ain't done yet.
