Friday 021111

AM - easy couple miles with TZ, then a dog jog and then some easy miles on my own. Goal for today's workout was recovery. 10 miles.

Had a green monster when I got home. This is number 3 for the year.

Sunday 011611

Mid day, 9 miles with some 15 second strides at the end to get some turn over.  Otherwise easy.  Legs felt pretty good.  Ran over to meet the family at the rec center.  Got in some gym work when I got there.

Week in review – decent week … got in a good long run with climbing (Saturday’s PPFA), a moderate tempo session in the stinging cold on Tuesday, and a turn over session on Thursday.   By passed the Fast and Flurryous 4 miler, a local race that a lot of my team mates from Fleet Feet did.   I see at least three things I need to work on … running with people, getting in speed work (at least through SD XC), and mental focus (that entire I want it all but can’t get it thing)… anyway  …

Week = 91 miles, 13.5 hours, 5k ascending feet
Month and Year = 188 miles, 29.5 hours, 12509 ascending feet
Green Summits = 0 this week, 3 on the year

Was going to end up botching my goal of alternative exercise of an hour except I saved myself on Sunday by getting to the gym.  Food log … definitely observed that the diet was a bit crappy this week.  Not nearly enough fruits or veggies, and that I tend to eat a lot in the evenings.  As I am slow to learn I should be able to do something about this by June.  Anyway, I got in some

Food log – AM, bagel, egg over easy, bacon and sweet potatoes hash browns.  Coffee.
Mid day … a couple of Green Monsters (2 and 3 on the year)

Dinner – home made pizza.  And an Odell’s IPA.

Really – these are awesome photos.

Just train.

My practice area … Kanban board in works.

Added “Another Song About the Rain” to the list of things to learn.   P.S. – new SP song.

Some pix from yesterday … JT’s favorite food is balls.

Monday 010311

Yeah, I decided to hide the prior post.  A run numbed my brain a bit.  I was pretty cranky this AM (last night too), and while I have those sorts of thoughts occasionally, my better judgment keeps me from shoving them up to this blog.  My apologies.

A little something on those motion activated cameras west of town.

AM – 10 minutes alternate exercise, including planks, push ups, leg lifts, squats (wt. bearing – 30), lunges (wt. bearing), and some other stretching.

Garmin 305 suddenly won’t hold a charge.  It will run on the cradle, just not off it.  Yeah, it has been about a year.  Called in for an RMA.  Not sure if this will fly because I am pretty sure it is out of warranty.

mid morning  - 10 miles.  Did 3 with TZ on her run/walk loop, then 3 with Lucy, then 1 with Bart, then 3 on my own.  All very easy.

Food/fuel
AM – few cups of coffee (creamer, sugar)
everything bagel, toasted with butter

Mid day, post run – 2 bowls of rice krispies cereal with 2% milk (JZ was eating some so I joined him), handful of popcorn.

Mid afternoon – kale, spinach, strawberry, orange, orange juice, broccoli, carrot smoothie.  Green Monster #1 on the year. (16oz?)

Dinner – apple, 2 sizeable bowls of spag with home made sauce, a few meatballs, and parm cheese.

Evening – couple of glasses of OJ (a bit too much, it was rich in the stomach)

Thursday night

Winter has finally come it seems

I got a book I have been wanting to get for a while:  Peter Strudwick’s “Come Run With Me.”  Peter ran Pikes four times, and had a best time of 7:02:28 (twice this time).  He did that in 1972 and 73.  And without the benefits of hands or feet.  He was born without them as his mother had suffered from rubella (German Measles) during her pregnancy with him.  Keep in mind, prosthetics nearly 40 years ago were a light years away from what they are now.

Following JT’s lead on this and playing with this Green Monster Challenge.  This smoothie was made up of spinach, broch, orange juice, kale, some yogurt, some apples, some grapefruit, some pineapple (all the fruit was lying around the kitchen and getting a bit over ripe) and some red pepper.

The Tanqueray in the background was not in the smoothie.

Forgot to post this shot the other day from when we were heading out to ski

Need to dig into this Joe Grant read.

Lot flying today about Wanjuri trying to kill his wife.
