Wednesday 112311

Interviews with Hal and Liza fresh off J100.

AM – stomach still not doing well.  Easy six miles.

But I got good news that I won volume 23 of the Studio C tracks.

We headed to the high altitude get away in the late AM.  The big winds we had a couple of weeks ago left LOTS of trees blown over.  There were easily dozens of big trees that had been uprooted.   Unbelievably none hit the cabin.  We did have some that hit the car port and the the dog kennel.   Some of the trees, well, I was glad they fell.  Others, not so much.  But that is the way nature rolls I guess.

I could not get the chain saws going after fiddling them with for 15 minutes so I took to the hand saw to get one off the car port.  Took a bit to adequately clear it.  Probably some sort of workout in this at 10000 plus feet.

The in-laws showed up a little later and I was cracking up at their new outfits from guest services this year.   Mosquito Pass in the distance.

  1. The hand saw is solid work. But an ax would have been epic. Hell, if I had known I would have made the drive just to swing some iron for a few hours.

  2. Plenty more to be done. I will probably be at it again tomorrow and maybe Friday. Even then, there will be plenty anytime you want it.

I was cursing that I could not find an ax at the cabin. I used a heavy hammer for part of it actually.

Seriously considering a week up here where it is just chainsaws, running, burning wood, and drinking brew. June sounds good.

  3. THAT would freaking rock! I'll bring all my saws and axes... and a keg?
If I still had my truck I would head up Friday and cut some log bench material. But the Accord sucks for hauling wood.
Head over to the store and buy an ax!

  4. You guys are funny! To a lot of people that's just "a day". Then some follow it up with said "workout".
Glad there was no apparent damage.

  5. Brownie - it gets shipped to me later this week. Track list here: http://www.kbco.com/pages/studioc-volume23.html

Jeff - yeah, hardly a workout but I am reminded how much everything can become a workout at this elevation.

  6. That tree looks like a recipe for serious blisters on these sissy hands.

Better make sure I don't spray any snow from my skis on Breck Guest Service folks' fancy duds next time I'm there.

Hmm. Yeah... I don't do that anyway.

  7. Mtnrunner2 - these Breck types are friendly ... mostly.

No blisters ... just tired arms.
