Sunday 042411

While Devon and Krissy set a new R2R2R recently, Darcy Africa apparently went and crushed it - posting 8:25. Wow.

Week = 41 miles, 5.25 hours, 1800 vertical
April = 215 miles, 34 hours, 31840 vertical
2011 = 1137 miles, 172.25 hours, and 91.6 k vertical

Low week by design – front end of the week was business travel and the second half I took Friday, Saturday and Sunday fully off.  Body feels great, but the mind wants to scratch that itch.  No sweat, will begin to slowly slowly ramp things up this week.

I added a new header, courtesty of “Larry Linux” over at Waddling Tuxedo.  Check him out if you are in need of a web developer.

  1. Was a bit surprised that D&K didn't go faster. Darcy's run is really impressive though.

  3. Any idea if the official R2R2R FKT's all start down Bright Angel? I believe it's 2-3 miles shorter that way so curious if there's a rule to doing South Kaibab to North Kaibab and back or if they all start down Bright Angel to North Kaibab and then back up South Kaibab like these two in the video?

  4. First thing ... nuthin's official ... My understanding is that Bright Angel is actually longer, and that most people do only the Kaibab out and back for a FKT.

  5. Just checked out the FKT link you posted. It says: "The fastest times are typically set by running the North and South Kaibab Trails." which would then make this run by Chrissy and Devon 2-3 miles shorter so 15-20 mins faster overall.

    (I'm not trying to stir up the pot, just was curious after watching the video.)
