- AM – ten miles. Easy for five (av HR 145, max 150, rolling terrain – ave pace ~7:55, inc warm up mile of 8:45), then accelerated slightly and ran at 7:22 pace (av HR 160, generally slightly uphill, max 170 on finish up hill), then jogged an easy mile.
- When I read stuff like this, it makes me feel like I have not done squat to train (although – after posting this, and getting some comments, I am cognizant I make choices with my life I am happy with)... I had workouts in this segment that I can easily say were the toughest of my career. A 30 mile day with a 10k tempo (4:59 pace) built into the second run was one of the toughest days of my life.
- … of course, then there is consistency like this.
- JM has his PPM predictions up. He does a great job with this but he does need to include himself in the top ten. A little side by side comparison:
| JM sez … | GZ sez … |
1 | Carpenter | Carpenter |
2 | Mejia | Mejia |
3 | Parker | Parker |
4 | Dayton | Dayton |
5 | Boettcher | Boettcher |
6 | Heneghan | Ricks |
7 | Van de Kamp | Mock |
8 | Ricks | Smiley |
9 | GZ | … undecided |
10 | Dignum | |
- I go undecided between an De Kamp, Heneghan, Dignum, Feucht, Compagnoni, Fain, Reed, Ryan, Ghezzi , Heller, Seymour and myself. A whole slew of guys (12 listed here) in that 4:10 to 4:30 range, looking for top ten spots (with only a couple left) will keep it interesting back there.
Hey man, we do what we can with the choices we make in life. For a dude with a job and a family, I'd say you're pretty well trained. Now go run that 4:10!
ReplyDeleteAMEN! When you heading down Nick?
ReplyDeleteAfter work on Friday. Depending on whether or not my wife and son join me, I'll either be sleeping in the back of the truck or camping.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any suggestions for backcountry spots around Manitou (that do not require a 6.5 mile climb up the Barr Trail)?
I second Nick's comment. Your balance is admirable.
ReplyDeleteNick - Lucho - thanks.
ReplyDeleteNick I sent you a note under a separate cover. Let me know if that will work for you.
Huh? What's a separate cover?
ReplyDeleteIts what you're sleeping under after you give your wife a Dutch Oven.
ReplyDeleteWait, what's a Dutch Oven? Is that the birthday present that says "now go cook for me"?
