We spend the day on a minibus tour that took us to Stonehenge, where it was really wet, cold and windy – imagine that.
 
Stonehenge  is what you expect to be, but nonetheless iconic.

We then went to Avebury which was equally as wet, windy and cold when we got there but the weather began to break towards the tail of our time there.

Avebury is its own henge but it is a mile in circumference so you can’t get a single shot of it from the ground – in fact there is a small village in it, the stones are “unfinished,” and there are no horizontal connecting stones (lintels).

We also hit several stops along the way (obelisk on the right, horse carved into the chalk hillside on the left)

Then we headed to Laycock.

Only bad news on the day is I realized I forgot the battery charger for the phone back home.  I will be reduced to iphone shots for the rest of the trip.  Better than nada however.
