AM – a short jaunt on the east side of Camelback mountain.  Started around 6 so it was not too hot.  Probably 90.

3.8 miles.  Some climbing.  About the same as Sanitas.  A bit more technical in the last bit though.

This video from Burro Days shows me taking off the EZ boots from Jack at the start of that race.

Much more entertaining however:

Evening – 7.2 miles.  Not too bad on the heat.  It was 98, but it is so dry it is sort of bearable.  Heck there is even water out here in the desert.

Difference between the morning run and the evening?  Well, other than the climbing there were like a hundred folks out doing Camelback.  I saw 1 other runner and 2 bikers in the later afternoon, early evening in Scottsdale.  Heat or choice of route?

Ya’ know, I think if I really wanted to challenge myself … I would take up pole vaulting.  I don’t mean that flippantly.  I mean, it would be really hard.  It would mean sprinting, coordination, pushing up, etc.  Whole different ball game.  It would be cool.  But ain’t nobody got time for that.  Right?

  1. No context pole-vaulting comment = best thing ever. I say DO IT.
