AM – some jogging with TZ to start, and then I explored some of the cactus fields.
Not the best place to jog because there is no real established trail (several coyote paths you can follow for a short distance though) along with the cactus threat. Reminded me of this song, one of my favorites from this group, and Roger is one of the best.
Still feeling a bit lethargic and tired, 5.1 miles. Kept it short with the longer effort expected tomorrow.
TZ asked if I had a strategy for tomorrow and it is really just to go with what Jack will give me. That might mean we are in the mix, but it might not be. The Leadville course is pretty rocky on the way off Mosquito Pass and then the upper parts of California Gulch, and Jack seems to be less interested in bombing those sort sections anymore. With a Fairplay victory behind us, I am going to approach this one with no expectations other than finishing, enjoying the day in the mountains, and sticking our nose in it if we have the chance.
News stuff: I guess if you have a subscription to the Times in the UK, you can read this KJ article, and this article on a guy who ran through the different diet fads of the times is interesting. If you are interested you can compare yourself to the “average” road racer.
