Monday 050911

10 miles easy.  Felt pretty good.  No soreness, no significant fatigue from Saturday.

KZ had an award ceremony at her school today where they recognized honor students.  Tyler Hanson, CU Buffaloes QB spoke at it.  Last year the school got CO pole vault phenom Pat Manson.  I think it is pretty cool how they get athletes in from the area that also speak to the importance of academics – and particularly how excellence is a choice.  Stoked for KZ but I thought it was really cool how after she received her award, she went up for a friend who name was omitted from the program and notified the staff of their mistake.

JZ had a piano recital recently.  In the pic below, they list the piece the kid is playing, its composer and the kid who is playing it.  JZ wrote his own piece.  It is a nice little progression in C minor.

Travelled to Pittsburgh and so behind on the blogosphere again.

Some old man won Miwok.

  1. You know its amazing how good Mackey is that he hasn't beaten Matt at Pikes Peak. If they had to run the marathon twice would it matter (ie is it too 'short')? Or for how good Mackey is, is Matt just even better than that sometimes? Can't wait to read a few more reports...you can see in that video that Dave was in second place with just a few miles left...but won by 3 minutes.

  2. For the last decade (or more), Matt has simply owned the PPM course. Dave is a damn good runner, but he is not going to run under 2:15 on the up. That is going to put him in a hole compared to Matt. And it leaves Matt a lot of leverage on the down.

  3. That video is awesome. It is amazing to see Dakota and Wolfe flying through that meadow on the downhill 40+ miles into it! I can't begin to imagine running 100K, never mind at that pace.

Has Mackey lost at all this year?

  4. Dave is clearly making a strong run at UROY with this win, the Bandera win and the AR win. Question is - do the 50, 100k wins outweigh what happens at WS?
