Sierre Zinal went down while I was sleeping, and RunColo has a nice post interview with the "ultra boys." Dakota takes the top American spot, which is rather surprising. Score one for ultra men over mountain guys (not that roadies know the difference). KJ gets third, which is also news (at least in my little head).
Additionally - I am not sure if I am supposed to read Macias 62 half, the fastest ever run in CO, as an prelude to what he will do at Pikes or if he will be zapped for next weekend. Arguably, the GT-to IS half is a bit quick because of the downhill, but it is run at 8k feet (generally). In my mind he is knocking on the door of the next level pretty damn hard.
And yes, I said sixty two. Not an hour two.
Mid AM - dog jog ... 4 dogs over the course of an hour. Easy. 7 miles. Ended the week with 70 miles, about 6k of climbing. The next week will be a 7-6-5-4-3 through Friday, with Saturday off. Tuesday or Wednesday will be an effort that is moderate, uphill to get the blood flowing. The bull is in the barn by the nose if we grab it by the horns. Or sumthin like that.
Glen Randal was top American in 8th, nearly a full 8 mins in front of Dakota.
ReplyDeleteWanna meet for an hour easy at teller at 9am?
Good catch. Was going off what the interviewees there were saying. I think if there was a reality show of Dakota, Scott and Nick, I'd probably tune in.
ReplyDeleteNegative on Teller. I am making bacon for the family.
The talent pool in running is redonkulous.
ReplyDeleteI can't speak for the American racers, but the fact that Europeans are coming over to race and vice versa certainly makes things interesting for spectators.
Yeah, that was my fault on the results. I had a small window to get it up quickly this AM before heading out and went with unofficial results to be timely vs. accurate. RunColo commenters did not appreciate the timeliness!
ReplyDeleteJustin - I appreciate the speed there. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYeah, no worries.
ReplyDeleteRandall's 2:45 really puts Gates' 2:38 in perspective - his :59 at MW as well. Numbers schnumbers, but I really think RG has 2:05 potential at PPA, unless altitude is too much of a factor for him.
ReplyDeleteRick Merriman
FWIW - Rickey is claiming he is feeling the after effects of the CDR. Most folks are leaning towards Rickey or Mario or Max for the win. Rickey has CDR in his legs, Max has a crazy month underway and Mario just ran a 62 half. It is a crap shoot as to who shows up with the biggest gun at this point.
